1. What are the benefits?
People who ask me to help them in the application of these approaches notice two main benefits. First, they save a lot of money, and second, they dramatically expand their range of effective options. As a secondary benefit, they find the experience of working with me a truly eye-opening, thought-provoking and unique one. It delivers positive change in their lives.
Benefits: Save money and increase effective options
2. Why is there a need for these approaches today?
Technology is rapidly leveling the playing field to the point where superior organization, vision, infrastructure, systems and planning are commodities called “best practices.” We’ve strayed too far from the intrinsic talents God and Nature gave us. Thus, we’ve come to rely too heavily on the extrinsic ones such as money, authority, processes and rules to inject our leadership style into an organization. These increase your costs and make your return on investment much lower than it could be. Furthermore, by confining yourself to the best practices everyone else uses, you tend to become just like everyone else. How will you lead your industry? Your markets? Markets reward wise differentiation.
So, how do you differentiate yourself and your organization, company, division, group and team? The answer rests with advanced approaches that move you beyond the mainstream offered by traditional leadership classes. Top athletes eventually find people who can help them develop their talent beyond the norm taught to everyone else, so why don’t you?
Benefit: Differentiation
3. How do I do this?
My work revolves around two key attributes of leadership: influencing and problem-solving. Without these leadership cannot occur. Budgeting, planning, organizing, timing and delegating are examples of problems to solve. Selling, managing, teaching, communicating and marketing are examples of influencing. There’s a direct correlation between successful leadership and the ability to influence and solve problems. I am able to supply a fantastic level of detail within a fresh, visualizable context that makes it much easier for you to implement these approaches. For more detail see my What to Expect page.
Benefit: Smooth, confident implementation
4. What makes me superior to other providers?
I integrate more traditional cognitive techniques with lesser known intuitive ones which have worked for thousands of years. Intuitive applications exist all around us in such fields as marketing, advertising, merchandising, politics and religion. Even though they are used right under our nose, we tend to ignore them for two reasons:
- We’re not conscious of them.
- We don’t believe they really work on us.
The best example is negative political ads. Virtually no one likes them, but they do influence us. Often after they saturate a market, voters will tend to unconsciously cite their points as reasons for not voting for someone. This has shown up constantly in polling data. The same theme applies to all advertising; it works because we don’t believe it has an affect on us – only others.
In essence, I take these principles from a mass level and help you apply them on an interpersonal level in conjunction with what you already know. They help you achieve the impossible and contradictory. Yet, very often you’ll say, “I knew this. I just never believed it would work.”
Benefit: Greater belief in who you are and what you can achieve.
5. How can I compete successfully against the Goliaths in the field?
There are three main reasons. First, the principles underpinning their approaches are too heavily skewed toward a rational, mathematical and scientific approach. They are too heady and ignore the heart. They are philosophically approaching the discipline from a different perspective. It’s as different as two different religions. I describe such approaches as cognitive heavy; they target the conscious mind and overlook unconscious influences affecting us.
For example, in mathematics we know that a + b = b + a. In other words, it doesn’t matter what order you add numbers, you get the same total. However, in the real world this is illogical; order does matters. If you put your underwear on after your outer clothing, I will guarantee that you will experience a difference in your day even though the number of pieces of clothing you wear won’t change.
The second reason is that even though these approaches have been around for thousands of years, it has only been since 2002 that cognitive science has finally declared that people think on two tracks: one conscious and one unconscious. With the advancement of technology, brain scans are quickly showing that our minds do not need to be consciously aware of external stimuli in order for us to be affected by them. That means most providers have not yet begun to adapt to this change because it’s still too new for them. In other words, the science, math and rationale for these approaches haven’t yet been translated into a concrete curriculum.
As a result, these Goliaths – who are so heavily invested in their old cognitive methodologies and products – are leaving the door open for intuitive alternatives such as mine. It’s similar to the niches organic food providers have been able to establish in the face of huge commercial food operators.
The third reason is that these Goliaths don’t have me. No copy of me exists in their firms.
Benefit: Be in front of your competition
